Guadalajara Light Rail Line 5 to start in January ahead of 2026 World Cup

The Governor-elect of the State of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, announced that he has already submitted the project to the president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum, with the aim of starting line 5 of the Guadalajara light rail in January with a view to the 2026 World Cup.

It would be at the beginning of the year when the line 5 project would begin, this with the aim of giving priority to the project from the Guadalajara International Airport to the old train station of Parque Agua Azul, this with the aim of connecting from the old station to the Akron Stadium.

The intention is to give priority to the section that will connect the Guadalajara Airport and the my Macro Periférico transportation system, with the aim of having the first advance of line 5 in 2026 and the second part in 2027

Among the modifications that will be made are the increase to four lanes on the road to Chapala, this with the aim of improving the road to the Guadalajara International Airport, in addition to placing hydraulic concrete, so it will have sustainable improvements such as a bicycle lane and the trees in the area will be respected.
