Airlines suspend flights in Oaxaca, Tabasco, Chiapas and Guerrero due to Hurricane John

National airlines announced that due to the effects of Hurricane John, they have cancelled 24 flights, mainly to the beaches of Puerto Escondido and Huatulco, and to the city of Oaxaca.

In the case of Viva Aerobus, it specified that 20 flights will be affected in this regard, to the aforementioned destinations, of which four of them are for this September 23.

However, the largest cancellations will be tomorrow, Tuesday, September 24, when 16 flights will be affected.

Some of the affected flights are:

VB9222 Mexico City (AIFA) – Puerto Escondido.
VB9223 Puerto Escondido – Mexico City (AIFA).
VB9294 Mexico City (AIFA) – Huatulco.
VB9295 Huatulco – Mexico City (AIFA).
VB1092 Mexico City (AICM) – Huatulco.
VB1093 Huatulco – Mexico City (AICM).
VB1184 Mexico City (AICM) – Puerto Escondido.

In the case of Grupo Aeroméxico, it reported that for the moment only four flights have been cancelled due to this meteorological phenomenon, of which two of them are to Puerto Escondido and the next two to Huatulco.

Given this situation, the airline announced that it has implemented a flight protection policy for passengers who are affected by this eventuality.

On the other hand, the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) reported that it is prepared for the arrival of Hurricane John, which is expected to make landfall this Tuesday, September 24 on the coasts of Guerrero and Oaxaca, according to forecasts from the National Meteorological Service.

“The SICT Centers of both entities are ready to deal with any possible damage that may occur on the federal highway network and feeder roads,” the agency indicated in a statement.

Likewise, he pointed out that the emergency committee of the Secretariat, through the General Directorate of Technical Services, coordinates the preventive actions to be carried out on the different communication channels.

Viva Aerobus and Aeroméxico informed their passengers that flights to Oaxaca, Tabasco, Chiapas and Guerrero and back will be rescheduled due to the approach of Hurricane John, which intensified to category 3 before making landfall in Mexican territory.

The airlines, respectively, informed users through their social networks of the complications and invited people to consult the security policies and their websites to schedule the rescheduling of their flights.

The airline explained that flights to and from Huatulco and Puerto Escondido have been rescheduled.

“Due to the weather conditions caused by Hurricane John, flights to and from Huatulco and Puerto Escondido are being affected in their itinerary,” the airline wrote on its X account.

It also asked passengers to consult the airline’s protection policy.
