The Oaxaca Book Fair supports independent publishers

As part of the 44th edition of the Oaxaca International Book Fair (FILO), a total of 51 of the nearly 100 editorial presentations that will be offered are projects that responded to the open call to be part of the Fair.

In the general program, there will be a total of 151 Oaxacan participants: 82 women, 53 men and 16 groups, since FILO continues to maintain itself as a platform to publicize local talent, an aspect in which it has grown in recent editions, reported Territorio Score.

Through this call, those who wish to present their works request a space at FILO. They are given a date, time and forum with all the technical facilities for the event, as well as dissemination and mention in the printed and online program, at no cost. Therefore, today there is an important sample of current work, of those who are interested in disseminating their work within the framework of FILO.

In our program, which has reached between 400 and 500 activities, editorial presentations

play a central role, occupying up to a quarter of the total number of events. In them, authors, editors and booksellers present their publications in person, in meetings where the public has the opportunity to meet and interact with those who write.

At the 44th FILO, to be held from October 12 to 20, Bajo el Laurel del Zócalo Capitalino, more than 40 publishers will be present in almost 100 presentations, where authors, compilers and editors will speak to the public about the details of their books in an atmosphere of reflection and exchange of ideas that FILO has always promoted in its activities.

Among the publishing houses that will be presented are Elefanta, SB Editorial, Editorial of the University of Veracruz, Mango Manila, Punto G, Sexto Piso, Nostra Editions, Peripheral Editions, Vitrali Editions, 1450 editions, Grañén Porrúa Bookstore, Factótum Editions, Mesoamerican University, University of Colima, INMUJERES, Puertabierta Editions, FR Editor, Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Penguin Random House, Tropical Conifers, Hachette Livre, Palindroma, 100XOAXACA, Four Triangles, Autonomous Communal University of Oaxaca, Economic Culture Fund, Manosucia, Semilla corazón, Komoontun, Three deer, UNAM Culture, 21st Century, Ku’u Savi Publishing House, Almadía, Intercultural University of the People, SM Editions, Climate Connections, UNHCR, Novo, Herder, , Editorial Laboratory and Salto al back.

Currently, FILO’s vocation is to promote a comprehensive plan to encourage reading that both impacts the inhabitants of the region and boosts the publishing industry in Mexico. Thus, one of the strategies is to bring the public together with authors and publishers, so that they assume editorial production as something close, offering warm and endearing experiences, with emphasis on independent publishing, support for the Oaxacan publishing community, the inclusion of writers based in Oaxaca and the promotion of young creators and creators in native languages.
