Protests by Workers in Yucatán Against Judicial Reform Continue; Fiscal Dock in Progreso Closed

Although the reform is already official, the protesters insist on its revocation and have decided to maintain the strike in the offices of the Judicial Branch.

For the second time, workers of the Federal Judicial Branch (PJF) protested at the fiscal dock of this port, blocking access to cargo transporters and tourist buses.

Last Tuesday, they also protested at the Mérida International Airport as part of their rejection of the Judicial Reform, recently approved by the Congress of the Union, the Senate of the Republic, and published in the Official Gazette of the Federation.

Although the reform is already official, the protesters insist on its revocation and have decided to maintain the strike in the offices of the Judicial Branch.

Among their main demands are the defense of their labor rights and opposition to the election of judges by popular vote, one of the most controversial proposals of the reform.

The protest at the fiscal dock was peaceful, without major incidents, but with the conviction of the dissenters to continue exerting pressure to be heard.

The workers assure that they will not give up their fight for what they consider a threat to the independence of the Judicial Branch.
