Vigilant groups will be formed against wood theft in Quintana Roo

Due to the constant theft of wood that occurs in the south of Quintana Roo, some rural communities such as Aaron Merino Fernandez, would be looking to create a group of vigilantes to prevent theft.

The ejidal commissioner of the Aaron Merino Fernandez community, Manuel Poot, detailed that at least three cases of theft are reported weekly in this town, located in the south of Quintana Roo, in which unknown persons take advantage to cut down various trees, and thus seize the wood.

Manuel Poot explained that they are seeking to mitigate this situation, forming a group of vigilantes, all of them from the ejido, to travel the territory and prevent this situation. “In recent times there have been cases of theft of wood, which was done for the construction of houses, so they are looking at ways to form a vigilance group to prevent this situation from continuing,” he declared.
