Audit to Investigate Million-Pesos Diversion by Campeche City Council to Company Linked to PRI

The Superior Audit Office of the State of Campeche (Asecam) will investigate a diversion of more than 79 million pesos from the Campeche City Council to a company linked to the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

Given the allocation of resources by the Campeche City Council to a company tied to the interests of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), the State Congress may request the intervention of the Superior Audit Office of the State of Campeche (Asecam).

This was confirmed by the current president of the Board of Government and Administration of the State Congress, Antonio Jiménez Gutiérrez, who confirmed that the investigations carried out by this editorial house, where there is a diversion of more than 79 million pesos, will have to be reviewed by the state’s highest auditing body.

This is due to the fact that Por Esto revealed that during the three years of the municipal administration of Biby Rabelo de la Torre, 79,311,598.25 pesos were allocated through 18 contracts to the company “Recubrimientos y Mantenimientos Industriales del Golfo S.A de C.V.”

This company, through the bidding process identified with the number MCC-DGA-2024-01, where the company linked to PRI member Aurora Cervera Sarmiento was the winner of the bid to handle public services for the next three years.

During the second term of Rabelo de la Torre under the Citizen Movement (MC) party, the same company will be allocated the sum of 1,083 million pesos from October 1, 2024, to September 31, 2027, for public services.

Jiménez Gutiérrez indicated that Asecam itself, in accordance with the preparation and delivery of the municipality’s financial statements, will analyze the contracts that have been awarded in 2024 and the remaining quarters of 2023.

He indicated that by outsourcing public services to a private entity, the operational range of the capital commune is limited, so there is the possibility of making budget adjustments due to the transfer of work to companies when the commune has the personnel and equipment for it.

He lamented that there are municipalities with fewer resources than the capital commune that not only fulfill their duties in public services but also have their own municipal police, which he considered highlights the poor management by the Citizen Movement mayor.
