A man was shot in the Peña neighborhood in Campeche by two individuals who arrived at the scene on a motorcycle.
Residents of the Peña neighborhood, in the state capital, once again experienced moments of panic after a man was injured by gunshots in that area of the city. The incident occurred on Peña Street between 21 and 23, at the corner with San Julián Street. According to reports, the victim was attacked by two individuals who arrived on a motorcycle with unknown characteristics.
The man received two gunshot wounds to his right leg and managed to reach his home on 23rd Street, where he was assisted by his family. They called emergency numbers, but due to the lack of available ambulances, they put him in a private truck and were transporting him to a hospital. However, on the way, they were intercepted by an ambulance from the Medical Emergency Attention System (SAMU), which took him to a hospital.
The attackers are believed to be members of the “machupines” gang, associated with an annex located near the Santa Lucía cemetery in the neighborhood of the same name. It was reported that earlier, some individuals had arrived to forcibly take a young man identified as Gibrán to that rehabilitation house. When he resisted and was helped by his friends, the “sponsors” alerted their people to carry out the attack.
The attackers fled on a motorcycle, and later, state police officers located the truck in the Mártires del Río Blanco subdivision, where they intended to take “Gibrán.”
