Campeche’s economy in freefall! Several businesses are closing, while others are cutting hours due to the crisis.

Despite the authorities’ continued denials, the economic downturn in the state of Campeche persists and continues to wreak havoc on the business sector; evidence of this includes the weekend closures of El Saborcito Casero, the Don Carmito Alonzo bakery branch at the Prosecutor’s Office, and Lapa Campeche.

Meanwhile, in an effort to remain viable and avoid layoffs, God Wings has closed its dining area after eight years and will now operate exclusively through home delivery and pickup services.

For its part, Don Machete was forced to cut its afternoon hours and will now only offer service from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Given the adverse economic climate facing companies and entrepreneurs, further total closures or operational adjustments at other businesses cannot be ruled out—all while state authorities have yet to announce any emergency support programs.
