Oaxaca Government requests Disaster Declaration

At least 13 towns were affected by the passage of Hurricane “John” through the Oaxacan territory, informed Governor Salomón Jara Cruz, after the fourth Extraordinary Session of the State Council of Civil Protection, held in Santiago Pinotepa Nacional, for which reason, the State Government requested the Federal Government a Declaration of Natural Disaster to provide all the support to the affected families.

The state executive admitted that, during 72 hours of work in the municipalities damaged by the phenomenon, so far, they have information on the 13 affected populations of the remnants of “John” in the regions of the Coast, and the Sierra Sur.

In the territory of the municipality of Santiago Jamiltepec, there are 10 affected populations, while in Santiago Tapextla, they reported damages in the municipal capital and the Romo alley.

In this context, the governor said that at least 1,565 people are being treated in different shelters, and due to the recent rains, they have been receiving care for more than 24 hours.

He explained that the electric power service has been restored in 44 localities, with 10 remaining to be able to restore the service, and they are also working in 9 localities that are currently isolated.

For its part, the legal and extended cabinet reported on the actions recently carried out to restore the basic services of the population.
