The woman who was murdered in the Granjas del Pescador neighborhood in Puerto Escondido was identified as Teresa C., 41, a merchant by occupation. Regarding the case, the State Attorney General’s Office specified that an investigation file was opened for the crime of femicide.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when Teresa C., 41, was on Arena Street in the aforementioned neighborhood, in the tourist destination on the coast of Oaxaca.
Unknown assailants shot her, leaving her dead on the street. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots, and paramedics went to the scene, where they confirmed her death.
The area was cordoned off, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office was notified, initiating investigative procedures at the scene.
According to initial interviews, the victim had reportedly left her home when gunshots were heard. Her lifeless body was subsequently found.
The Oaxaca Attorney General’s Office is conducting the investigation using specialized protocols and a gender perspective, while also incorporating Context Analysis studies, tools that help strengthen lines of investigation and understand the circumstances in which the events occurred, with the aim of clarifying the violent deaths of women and strengthening the effectiveness of justice proceedings.
