Tehuacán. The National Guard reported an increase in robberies on the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca highway, mainly in sections near Tehuacán. Reports indicate that the most dangerous points include the Trébol de Coapan, with up to four robberies a week.
The data coincide with what was previously stated by the leader of the Union of Poultry Farmers, Jorge García de la Cadena Romero, who stressed that now it is in that part of the region where more robberies are committed to cargo vehicles in that sector.
Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca Highway: zone of high incidence of crime
According to the data provided by the elements of the National Guard, the sections with the highest criminal activity include the entrance to San José Ixtapa, kilometer 19, and the twin gas stations at kilometer 17. In these red points, criminals have focused their attacks on both federal cargo transport and private vehicles.
Modus operandi of the robbers on the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca highway
The criminals use two main methods to stop the vehicles: placing stones on the pavement to force the driver to stop or surrounding the vehicle with other cars.
When the vehicles stop, the drivers are threatened with firearms and abandoned in remote areas, so that it takes them two to three days to report to the company or the authorities, making it difficult for the authorities to respond immediately. So far, the criminals have not been identified
Requests for greater surveillance
The leader of the Union of Poultry Farmers, Jorge García de la Cadena Romero, has emphasized that the situation has worsened in this area, which is why he requested increased security in the Trébol de Coapan and other red spots. This request arises after observing a decrease in assaults in other sectors after the increase in surveillance on federal highways such as 150 Mexico-Veracruz.
