It was a devastating six-year term: Canaco Durango

Economía. Se buscará que con el nuevo Gobierno se promueva una mayor inversión.

A six-year term with ups and downs has ended, “but above all with many downs,” said the counselor of the National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco), Mauricio Holguín Herrera.

He said that in the new six-year term it will be necessary to follow up on aspects that businessmen and various sectors of society repudiated, such as the reform of the Judicial Branch where changes were necessary, but not how they were made; and to recover the losses in the economic sphere.

“It was an economically devastating six-year term. Much of the economy on which we depend comes from other countries, the fact that right now close to 40 billion dollars of American investment from our northern neighbors are already stopped and we know that much of the economy of many other countries, especially Asian ones, is also stopped until we see how this new government will behave, how this new government will also influence the decisions that are made with whoever remains as president in the United States and obviously the bilateral relationship that exists, if the Free Trade Agreement is maintained, if it is modified,” he indicated.

He also said that an approach will be sought so that more investments can be made during the new administration.

“There is also the phenomenon that there have been no invitations to be able to generate an economy, a restoration of the economy, this is something that we would like to discuss with the business sector with whoever takes office in the new government because we know that they will also be the turning point for this new modality to be able to generate this investment,” he said.
