Man Arrested for Attempted Rape and Homicide in Mérida

Officers from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) assigned to the State Investigation Police (PEI), in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), arrested an individual today accused of attempted rape and qualified homicide.

The incident occurred early last Saturday at a residence in the Las Américas neighborhood, north of Mérida.

According to the complaint and evidence obtained by investigators, Pedro P. C., a 31-year-old from the State of Mexico, allegedly sexually assaulted T. L. M. J., then threatened to kill her and attempted to stab her in the chest with a knife. The woman managed to wrest the knife from him, suffering cuts in the process.

Police and prosecutorial investigations located the suspect and executed the arrest warrant issued by a control judge.

The individual is also accused of trespassing on properties in the mentioned neighborhood.
