Tropical Depression Eleven-E and Cold Front 4 ‘Settle’ in Mexico: Which States Will ‘Freeze’ This Wednesday?

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) forecast detailed the formation of a possible tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours off the coasts of Guerrero and Oaxaca, due to low-pressure areas southwest of the Gulf of Mexico, as well as over western and central Mexico.

Additionally, Cold Front Number 4 with its air mass will extend over the southern and southeastern United States, and Tropical Depression Eleven-E, located off the coast of Oaxaca, will cause low temperatures and heavy rains in the country.

According to a statement issued by Conagua, due to the approach of Tropical Depression Eleven-E, located in the areas of Oaxaca, the SMN, in coordination with the National Hurricane Center in Miami, maintains a zone of prevention for tropical storm effects from Lagunas de Chacahua, Oaxaca, to Boca de Pijijiapan, Chiapas.

On Wednesday morning, minimum temperatures will range from -5 to 0 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas of:

– Intense rains (75 to 150 millimeters) in: Campeche and Guerrero

– Very heavy rains (50 to 75 millimeters) in: Puebla, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán

– Heavy rains (25 to 50 millimeters) in: Colima, Jalisco, and Michoacán

– Showers (5 to 25 millimeters) in: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Morelos, Nayarit, Tamaulipas, and Tlaxcala

Additionally, winds of 70 to 90 kilometers per hour and waves of 2 to 4 meters are expected on the coasts of Veracruz, and winds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour and waves of 1 to 2 meters on the coasts of Tabasco and Tamaulipas.

“Heavy to extraordinary rains can cause flooding, landslides, river and stream level increases, as well as overflows and flooding in low-lying areas of the mentioned states. Therefore, the population is urged to heed the warnings of the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the National Water Commission (Conagua), and follow the recommendations of Civil Protection,” the statement reads.
