Oaxaca strengthens air connectivity with new routes and increased frequencies

The State Tourism Secretariat (Sectur Oaxaca) and the airline Viva Aerobús have announced important improvements in the region’s air connectivity, highlighting a new route that will connect Puerto Escondido with Guadalajara starting next December, as well as the increase in frequencies on the Monterrey-Oaxaca-Monterrey route.

Guadalajara Starting on December 3, the new Guadalajara-Puerto Escondido-Guadalajara route will operate with three weekly frequencies, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. This connection is essential to boost tourism in Puerto Escondido, known for its beaches and welcoming atmosphere.

Increase in Frequencies on Monterrey-Oaxaca Also, starting on November 1, the Monterrey-Oaxaca-Monterrey route will increase its operations, going from four weekly flights to daily flights. This measure seeks to facilitate the access of tourists and visitors to Oaxaca, a state rich in culture and traditions.

Airline Statistics Viva Aerobús has successfully operated in the state, carrying out 2,746 flights in 2023, generating 588,685 available seats and achieving an average occupancy of 80.22%. So far this year, the airline has registered 2,328 frequencies with an occupancy of 77.14%. Currently, it operates 10 routes in the three airports of the state, including destinations to Mexico City, Monterrey and Tijuana.
