The chaotic section of Highway 57 called “Los Chorros” could be relieved in terms of the vehicular cargo that passes through there with the announcement of the Interserrana highway proposed by the State Government of Nuevo Leon.

The governor of Monterrey, Samuel Garcia, has assured that the construction of the Interserrana highway will be key to reducing by 70% the cargo traffic in the conflictive section of “Los Chorros” on Highway 57, which crosses the state of Coahuila. This statement comes in the midst of efforts to improve connectivity and road safety in the region.

A project that improves both entities?

Through his social networks, the governor of Monterrey shared progress on the work, highlighting the completion of the Y Griega Bridge, a fundamental piece of this new road that seeks to better link Nuevo Leon with Highway 57, which connects with Saltillo.

According to García, this highway will not only facilitate traffic in Nuevo León, connecting municipalities such as Mier and Noriega, Doctor Arroyo and Galeana, but will also have a positive impact on long-distance vehicle flow in Coahuila.

The Interserrana Highway is seen as a solution to the congested section of Los Chorros, an area known for its frequent accidents due to the amount of heavy traffic and the conditions of the terrain. With this new road, it is expected that part of the vehicular load will be diverted to the south of Nuevo León, relieving pressure on Los Chorros and significantly reducing accidents.

Thus, the construction of the Interserrana Highway is presented as a crucial work to improve connectivity between Nuevo León and Coahuila, while the relief of congestion in Los Chorros could bring greater safety to this historically conflictive section.

However, experts suggest that the metropolitan area of Saltillo should continue designing its own infrastructure strategies to manage its growth and traffic effectively, which is why some initiative is expected from the Coahuila government to improve road mobility and reduce accidents on the borders with other states.
