Tamaulipas is among the safest entities and is in ninth place nationally, said Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, during the conversation “Two years of memories of a transformation”, in which he offers a balance on the path taken since his government began in 2022.

Accompanied by the president of the DIF Tamaulipas, María de Villarreal, the state leader arrived at the Tamaulipas Cultural Center, with the presence of officials from the Legislative and Judicial Branches, the mayors of the 43 municipalities, representatives of the Armed Forces, as well as businessmen and civil society.

He highlighted the change in the security approach of his administration, moving from a model based on the use of force to one that prioritizes human rights.

“Now it is about protecting human rights, discouraging crime, using intelligence, professionalizing the corporation and truly protecting people,” said Villarreal.

He pointed out the reduction in intentional homicides and the number of kidnappings; the actions to rescue victims and punish those responsible.

Regarding the care and empowerment of women, Villarreal Anaya cited the creation of Puntos Rosas, safe spaces where women can go in search of help. In addition, the opening of three Casas Violetas in Tamaulipas.

The governor assured that these two years have been characterized by the regeneration of public life and a transformation that seeks to make Tamaulipas a more humanistic entity, where each person can fully exercise their rights and achieve social well-being.

He also referred to the responsible management of public finances in Tamaulipas, which has allowed for increased revenue collection, refinancing of liabilities and raising the state’s credit rating to Triple A.

The Government of Tamaulipas, he added, faced the water crisis with immediate measures and long-term projects, after pointing out that various actions were taken to guarantee the supply of drinking water in the absence of rain and announced the projects promoted to ensure access to water.

He said that strategies such as cloud bombardment to generate rainfall and the demand for the right to irrigation were implemented, in addition to the transfer of water from the El Cuchillo dam.

He also mentioned his participation in the Rio Bravo Basin Council, defending water management in front of other entities in the north of the country.

Regarding the southern part of the state, Villarreal Anaya stressed the use of water pumps, pipes and isotanks in public spaces to mitigate the shortage, as well as the voluntary gesture of the sugarcane producers of El Mante, who donated water for irrigation.

She also announced that work will be carried out on medium- and long-term projects to sustainably solve the water crisis, with the support of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
