Through reforms to the Traffic Law of the 39 Municipalities of Durango, the aim is to eliminate the prohibition of the use of tinting on vehicles that circulate through the entity. The proposal was presented by the deputy Bernabé Aguilar Carrillo, who assured that the aim is to eradicate corrupt practices.
He explained that one of the problems that Durango faces in terms of mobility is the implementation of regulations that restrict free transit, such as the prohibition of tinting on cars.
According to the legislator, these measures have led to abuses by some authorities, who have taken advantage of the checkpoints to request bribes. “The checkpoints installed to remove tinting on vehicles have not fulfilled their objective of improving security, but have become a tool for extortion by security elements,” he said.
Aguilar Carrillo, who is part of the Morena Parliamentary Group, stated that, although these measures were justified at the time by the state’s insecurity situation, today they are obsolete and abusive.
He pointed out that not only did they strengthen the right to free transit, but they also combat the corruption that affects drivers in Durango. The proposal will be discussed in committees before being voted on by the full Congress of the State Congress.
And the fact is that the current Durango Traffic Law establishes that vehicle windows should not be darkened or painted in such a way that it prevents visibility into or out of the vehicle, especially the front side windows.
