
Homero Meneses Hernández, head of the State Secretariat of Public Education (Sepe), confirmed the presence of 12 cases of Coxsackie in the Emiliano Zapata and Juan Escutia elementary schools in the La Loma Xicohténcatl neighborhood, so the infected children will rest for 21 days at home.
The Coxsackie outbreak was announced by educational authorities and parents on October 3, when both institutions suspended classes to avoid further infections.
In this regard, in a group interview, Meneses Hernández announced that the Secretariat of Health (Sesa) intervened and advised school authorities to control the outbreak, in such a way that they began with the procedures for cleaning the institution and caring for children with symptoms.
