Amidst shouts, applause, prayers and surrounded by parishioners, the Virgin of Zapopan arrived at the Cathedral of Guadalajara this Wednesday, before returning to the Basilica, her home, this Saturday the 12th.
The Cathedral was full of followers of La Generala de Zapopan who took out their cell phones to save and share that valuable memory, before the mass, the parishioners shouted various cheers to the Virgin of Zapopan.
One of the attendees was Francisco Javier Rafael who was the guardian of the central hawser of the Virgin for 12 years
“I have a beautiful memory of the guard, I have memories of the holy virgin of everything that I lived at her side, of everything beautiful that I was at her side, of having her in my arms,” he recalled.
Another privilege that Francisco had was to see the room of the Virgin of Zapopan where she has all her clothing
“To know her room that very few people in Guadalajara, including the guard, know about the room of the Blessed Virgin, not even priests know about the room of the Virgin.” What is the room like? “The room is her bedroom where she has her memories, hats, crowns, necklaces, gifts, coins, dresses, caps, pectorals, everything she wears is kept there in a room in the Basilica of Zapopan especially for her,” he explained.
This Thursday there will be mass at 5:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Cathedral and on Friday at 6:00 p.m. on the esplanade of Cabañas. And on Saturday La Generala will be accompanied by thousands of faithful on her journey from the Cathedral to the Basilica of Zapopan.
