“Bachetón” program to be implemented on federal highways throughout Mexico

At her press conference, President Sheinbaum reported that the program will take place from November of this year to February 2024, with an investment of 4 billion pesos. The goal is to work on the federal highway network, which is 44,600 kilometers. With this program, 8,500 jobs will be created.

This program was started by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo when she was head of the Government of Mexico City.

She indicated that the tenders have already begun. “Fortunately, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador left us this savings and others, we will close very well. We decided to use these 4 billion to cover potholes and in December an additional improvement is coming.”

For his part, the head of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jesús Esteva, stated that in the southeast, due to the construction process of the Mayan Train, “routine maintenance will be carried out, which is basically patching,” but he also mentioned that there will be leveling, weeding, cleaning of ditches, in drainage works, so that no additional damage is generated in the lower layers.
