Tourism strengthens promotion of Durango cabins

Cabañas. Se busca hacer ver a los estados vecinos que Durango sigue siendo una entidad segura y que quien visite la zona ecoturística tendrá una estancia segura.

The Tourism Secretariat will reinforce promotion in neighboring states to inform that the cabins in the state of Durango continue to be safe and that the state is one of the safest in the country.

Elisa Haro Ruiz, head of the Tourism Secretariat of Durango, said that they will continue promoting strategies and carrying out actions hand in hand with ecotourists, in order to attract more visitors to the cabins.

She explained that both she and her counterpart in Sinaloa have already held a meeting with the authorities of the federal Public Security Secretariat to address this issue and begin a promotional campaign for the December holiday season, with a focus on safe roads.

She also commented that they discussed the reactivation of security on the roads that connect with Sinaloa, since this Pacific state is an important source of tourists to Durango.

Regarding the Revueltas Festival, she mentioned that, during visits to other regions to promote the event, the issue of insecurity has not arisen in the interviews.

However, there is a strong focus on regional tourism for this festival, with the expectation of receiving visitors from Coahuila, Zacatecas and Chihuahua.

Regarding the impact of insecurity in the Sierra and the neighboring state, he commented that it is not yet possible to quantify the effects exactly.

However, he said, it is estimated that cancellations at the cabins have reached approximately 40 percent, while in the urban area the hotels have registered 20 percent cancellations.

Security

The promotion is in the sense that Durango is one of the safest states in the country and visiting the cabins is safe.
