Yes, There Is Organized Crime and Drug Shipments in Campeche, Sheinbaum Contradicts Layda

While state prosecutor Jackson Villacís Rosado denies that organized crime operates in Campeche, and both Governor Layda Sansores and police chief Marcela Muñoz insist that everything is calm, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s National Security Strategy indicates that the Jalisco New Generation Cartel has a presence in the state.

A crime map was presented showing that, in addition to the Jalisco cartel operating here, Campeche is one of the entry and unloading points for drug shipments from South America, destined for the United States and Europe, in the Yucatán Peninsula.

In her 100-day pacification plan, the president intends to directly attack the finances of organized crime with an “alternate cabinet,” as well as identify leadership, second and third levels of command, and members with the highest violence profiles in organized crime groups.
