As of October 10, the Coordinated Command came into effect in the municipality of Santa Cruz Tlaxcala, a measure that allows the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) to temporarily assume security tasks in the town. The objective is to restore peace and tranquility through joint work that seeks to obtain effective results in crime prevention and peace building.

The strategy contemplates reducing crime rates, containing the commission of high-impact crimes, rebuilding the social fabric and safeguarding the rights of residents. The police deployment includes the Special Operations Group (Gopes), the State Highway and Road Police Directorate, the Gender Police, the Crime Prevention Department, the Canine Unit (K9), as well as elements of the Navy (Semar), the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) and the National Guard.

The actions consist of patrols at strategic points and fixed controls on main roads, in addition to random surveillance tours in neighborhoods and areas with a higher incidence of crime. For these tasks, the SSC has allocated 12 police vehicles and a helicopter to carry out overflights in the municipality.

The implementation of the Coordinated Command was approved by the State Council of Citizen Security of Tlaxcala, headed by Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros, and will be in effect for the next three months. The mayor of Santa Cruz Tlaxcala, Omar Maldonado Tetlamatzi, officially requested this measure before the council, considering it necessary to reinforce security in his municipality.

While the Coordinated Command is in operation, the city council will work to strengthen its police force to have the necessary number of elements and ensure that they comply with the corresponding certification.

In the same council session, it was agreed to cancel the Coordinated Commands in the municipalities of Zacatelco and Xicohtzinco, implemented in April and May respectively. The decision was based on the fact that these measures gave positive results by reducing the incidence of crime and the commission of high-impact crimes, and it was considered that both municipalities already have the necessary police force to assume responsibility for public safety.
