With Casa Tlaxcala as its headquarters in Mexico City, the governor of Tlaxcala, Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros, presented the “Tlaxcala 2024 Fair of Fairs”, where she was accompanied by state officials, artisans and producers from various municipalities of the State, as well as municipal mayors, among whom the municipal president of San Juan Totolac, Benjamin Atonal Conde, stood out.
At the event, the Governor of Tlaxcala, Lorena Cuellar Cisneros, pointed out that Tlaxcala has one of the five best fairs in the country, with a projected economic spillover of 160 million pesos in support of merchants and producers;
The fair of fairs will take place from October 25 to November 18, offering a fusion of pre-Hispanic traditions and modern celebrations such as the Day of the Dead, with more than 400 activities scheduled within this great festivity of the Tlaxcalans.
The presentation was attended by artisan bakers, who raised the name of Totolac with the traditional festive bread, which is reaching and pleasing tourists from the interior of the country, even from abroad, who are getting to know our traditions, culture and the greatness that characterizes the municipality of San Juan Totolac Tlaxcala.
The municipality of Totolac (from the Nahuatl: tototl, atl ‘birds, water’, ‘Place of water birds’) is one of the 60 municipalities into which the Mexican state of Tlaxcala is divided. Its capital is the town of San Juan Totolac.
Here the archaeological remains of Tepeticpac, Ocotelulco and Quiahuixtlán are preserved, seat of three of the four main Lordships of the Ancient Republic of Tlaxcallan, an indelible mark of our pre-Columbian heritage. In the 16th century, hundreds of families left here to pacify and colonize the north of New Spain, a process that allowed the Tlaxcalans to actively participate in the formation of the current Mexican nation, as well as the multifaceted Ibero-American culture of today.
The municipality of Totolac is made up of nine communities, which are: Acxotla del Río, San Miguel Tlamahuco, La Trinidad Chimalpa, La Candelaria Teotlalpan, Los Reyes Quiahuixtlán, Santiago Tepeticpac, San Francisco Ocotelulco, San Juan Totolac and Tepoztla de Zaragoza.
