Lezama Seeks Chinese Tourism for Chetumal with Tulum Airport

The governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, met with the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Mexico, Zhang Run, with the aim of boosting tourism and trade.

Lezama addressed issues related to the safety of tourists and the attractions offered by the 12 destinations in Quintana Roo. She also highlighted the friendliness and warmth of the local population, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that the prosperity generated by tourism benefits all corners of the state.

Additionally, the possibility of increasing Chinese tourism in the free zone of Chetumal was discussed, taking advantage of the Yum Kaax market and the Jaguar Park. The mobility infrastructure, represented by the “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” international airport in Tulum and the emblematic Tren Maya, was also a key point in the conversations.

For his part, Ambassador Zhang Run praised the governor’s efforts, highlighting that they share the goal of improving the well-being of their respective peoples. This diplomatic support also strengthens the alliance between Quintana Roo and China, opening new opportunities for both.

Finally, it was noted that the meeting was also attended by the Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto; Senator Eugenio Segura; and the governor’s private secretary, Ángel Rivero Palomo, as well as members of the Chinese delegation.

As reported by REPORTUR.mx, an investment of over 2 million dollars will be made for an integral project to turn Calderitas into an important tourist destination in Quintana Roo. The state government, ejidatarios, and merchants, who have long demanded this boost, are participating in this project.
