People screamed at  Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares in Veracruz: “Traitor, You Sold Out to the Dictator”

Apparent workers of the Judiciary confronted Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, father of Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez, due to their discontent with his vote that allowed the government to approve the judicial reform, the first of many, such as the reform to transfer the National Guard to the administration of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena).

A video began circulating on social media showing Yunes Linares leaving an establishment in Veracruz, where a small group of protesters confronted him from a distance, shouting, “Yunes, traitor, you sold out to the dictator.” The former governor of Veracruz kept his distance for a few seconds while waiting for a Chevrolet Suburban to arrive and take him away.

One of the protesters approached the PAN politician, and they exchanged words without any physical provocation. Meanwhile, other protesters began throwing coins at him, just as PAN Senator Lilly Téllez did during the Senate session discussing the judicial reform.

On September 10, after Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares appeared in the Senate as a substitute for his son Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez, due to an alleged medical condition, Senator Téllez threw 30 coins at the podium where Linares was standing and shared images on her social media.

“I threw 30 coins at the traitor who sold out the country in the Senate. His name is Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares,” the legislator wrote on her personal X account.

Yunes Márquez had publicly stated that he would vote against the judicial reform project. However, after a few days of silence, he changed his position and has since been seen aligning with the government bloc, voting in the same direction as Morena and its allies in the Senate and even meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
