At the end of the state administration, Jalisco is betting on technological innovation to strengthen its tourism offering and attract more visitors; in this context, the local Tourism Secretariat, under the direction of Vanessa Pérez Lamas, presented the Explora Jalisco platform, a digital tool to transform the way travelers discover and experience the state’s tourist attractions.
Explora Jalisco is emerging as a platform to offer personalized recommendations for tourist itineraries, taking into account the interests, budget and preferences of each user. Travelers will be able to receive suggestions on events, cultural, sports, gastronomic experiences and more, in addition to exploring the nine Magical Towns that the state has to offer.
Vanessa Pérez Lamas, in an interview with this media, explained that the main objective is to adapt the tourism sector to the new technological demands that accelerated after the Covid-19 pandemic, “it was necessary for tourism in Jalisco to join this digital revolution.” Explora Jalisco will not only be limited to being an interactive guide, but will also allow visitors to design customized itineraries, with updated information extracted from Google Places on costs, schedules and characteristics of the destinations.
The platform was developed in collaboration with the Jalisco Institute of Information Technologies, which participates as an intermediary between the agency and those who operate the software, guaranteeing that the objectives are met and a collaboration that allows the development of both parties. Lamas emphasized the importance of adding Mexican technology to the value chain of this sector.
This launch marks the end of Pérez Lamas’ administration, since the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat is in the process of transition to the new government.
Michelle Fridman, who previously served as Secretary of Tourism in Yucatán, will be the new head of the area, “we are pleased to have a technical and prepared profile,” who will continue this long-term project to boost tourism activity in the state, said Pérez Lamas.
One of the challenges for the next government will be to manage the data obtained through Explora Jalisco.
