Alameda Hidalgo in Querétaro will be open 24 hours a day

Querétaro’s mayor, Felifer Macías, presented a plan to revitalize the Alameda Hidalgo, which includes keeping the park open 24 hours a day, investing in lighting to improve nighttime security, and reinforcing surveillance with a greater presence of the municipal police. Likewise, access with pets will be allowed, as long as the rules of cleaning and care of the space are respected.

The mayor was emphatic in his refusal to this request, reiterating that the installation of informal commerce will not be allowed in the Historic Center or in the Alameda, reaffirming his commitment to maintaining order in the city. “They are asking us for permits to sell in the surroundings of the Alameda, but that is not going to happen.

I want it to be clear that I will not allow it,” Macías declared, emphasizing the need for stricter regulation of commerce in the area. As an alternative, the mayor explained that his administration has proposed the creation of Casas Artesanales, a project focused on providing a formal and regulated space for vendors to offer their products.

Three of the four groups of merchants have shown their willingness to join this initiative, while the organization that occupies the Madero walkway rejected the proposal and demands more than 30 formal spaces in the Alameda. In addition, Macías pointed out that a group of street vendors tried to condition their exit from the Madero walkway by requesting permits to sell in the vicinity of the Alameda Hidalgo. These actions aim not only to improve the experience of visitors in the Alameda, but also to preserve order in one of the most emblematic places in the city.
