And the fact is that municipalities in the Altos Norte region of Jalisco such as Teocaltiche have been disputed for four years by the Jalisco Cartel, which is seeking to take them from the Sinaloa Cartel, which is weakened by the dispute in the northwest of the country.
“I believe that the Jalisco Cartel is mainly taking advantage of this situation in which the war between “Chapitos” and “Los Mayos” is taking place in the northwest of the country. This has motivated people from both factions, from “Los Chapitos” and “Los Mayos,” who are in various places in the Republic, to bring people as reinforcements to Sinaloa, Sonora or Baja California where the war is taking place.”
According to journalist Luis Carlos Sáinz, another possibility is that “Los Chapitos” create an alliance with the Jalisco Cartel to together defeat those who remain in the Altos Norte region who are sympathetic to “Los Mayitos.”
