Fishing fever starts in Los Cabos: Bisbee’s Offshore

With 136 participating teams and an approximate purse of 3 million dollars, the Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore sport fishing tournament kicks off this morning.

Clicerio Mercado, organizer of the Bisbee’s tournaments in Mexico, said that this year the tournament is celebrating its 26th anniversary; in addition, the number of days of participation has increased, going from two to three days of fishing.

The Bisbee’s Offshore has reached its maturity, so it is no longer considered a small tournament. Because of this, the organizers have indicated that they are looking to give it a new image and position it among the most important sporting events worldwide.

“The truth is that the community feels this tournament as their own. The Bisbee’s tournament is celebrating its 44th anniversary in 2024, the Black and Blue, but this one, which is the Bisbee’s Offshore, is just celebrating its 26th anniversary. But this year in this tournament we are launching the three-day fishing modality, it is no longer the small Bisbee’s. We are going to find a new nickname for this tournament, but it is already a tournament in itself; 136 teams and 2 million 716 thousand dollars in prizes. I think that at 26 years old he is already an adult.”

During the three days of fishing, the participants will take part in the daily “pools”, where the team that catches the largest specimen of marlin, dorado or tuna will have the possibility of winning a purse of 547 thousand dollars.
