National Guard rescues migrants in Durango town

In the municipality of Durango, the arrest of an undetermined number of Central American immigrants was recorded in the town of Abraham González by the National Guard on Tuesday afternoon, but no official information was released by the corporation.

A low-quality video shows how men and women, as well as children, are escorted along a dirt road by elements of the National Guard.

In this regard, Óscar Galván, Secretary of Security in Durango, confirmed the event, but without giving details, given that it was a federal matter.

“It was the National Guard, the reports we have are that some migrants were rescued, and so far this is the knowledge we have officially.”

Galván commented that since it was an operation with federal security institutions, they were not asked for support for the actions.

“We only helped in some matters, but everything was intervention by the National Guard,” said the Secretary of Security in Durango.

He also stressed that in order to monitor this type of event, work is being done in a coordinated manner with different levels of government.

“We continue with the surveillance tours, as I had been saying, the Institutional Operation Base, where we work in a coordinated manner.”

Security issue in Durango

On the issue of security in the state, he said that so far there has not been a meeting with authorities from the state of Sinaloa, but information has been shared with which tension in the border area has been reduced.

Likewise, he announced that during the last few days, they have met with businessmen from the eco-tourism center sector, to establish surveillance strategies in the cabin areas.

“We have had meetings with them. We have reached strategic agreements with them. The tourist police will be acting, we will go to their tourist spaces, I proposed the logbook. We even make tours inside their development centers so that the people who are visiting them can feel safe. We have also had meetings with the Ministry of Tourism and these businessmen and we have been taking some actions to ensure accurate communication so that people can come with peace of mind.”
