Puebla is Filled with Sinkholes

Various streets in the state have witnessed the formation of sinkholes, which have caused damage to homes and affected vehicles.

One of the first recorded in the state was in Juan C. Bonilla in May 2021 in the community of Santa María Zacatepec.

The sinkhole caused a stir among the public because it affected a home, and in the vicinity of the area, a market and a frenzy to see it were generated after it reached more than 110 meters in length.

In 2023, another sinkhole measuring two meters in length and six meters in depth was reported in Santa María Moyotzingo, in San Martín Texmelucan.

Recently, authorities reported other sinkholes in August of this year in the communities of La Trinidad Tepango and Soledad Morelos.

Another sinkhole was also recorded in the head of Libres after a local drainage issue, and in the Sierra Norte of Puebla, two sinkholes were reported in the fourth section of La Libertad.

Among the recent ones is the one recorded in the Chachapa Industrial Park, measuring 25 meters, into which a truck fell after it was caused by poor work on drainage replacement on the Carril to San Cristóbal.

24 HORAS documented another sinkhole in San Andrés Cholula, which was attended to with machinery by personnel from San Andrés Cholula.

The capital of Puebla has witnessed various sinkholes, although of smaller dimensions. The latest was recorded on 26 Poniente Street between 11 and 13 North, which has already been marked with tires, wood, and tape as a traffic warning.
