¿Guanajuato está sumido en la pobreza? Esto releva un informe sobre su situación

According to a diagnosis shared by the organization Citizen Action Against Poverty, the state of Guanajuato has not recovered its per capita income level since 2016.

This is an updated document, published in the framework of October 17, International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

In it, it is specified that, only in the first and second quarter of 2024, Guanajuato was the state in which the population with labor income below the cost of the food basket increased the most, with 2.9 percentage points.

To date, it is estimated that more than two million people live in poverty in the state, despite the reduction of 8.5 percentage points reported by CONEVAL.

Salaries in the entity continue to be positioned at medium-low levels, of 5,438 pesos per person, which does not allow inhabitants to afford a basic food basket.

An important aspect mentioned in the diagnosis is that Guanajuato stands out for its high percentage of educational gap, ranking sixth at the national level, with 22.8 percent of the population with this deficiency.

Among other alarming data provided by Citizen Action Against Poverty, it highlights that 59 percent of workers do not have social security, 30.9 percent work excessive hours, 28.5 percent do not have benefits, and 53.5 percent do not have a stable work contract.
