With the 1st Self-Sustaining Fair of Women Producers and Artisans, the Municipal Government continues to empower San Miguel entrepreneurs from the communities.

As part of the public policies in favor of women, marked by President Mauricio Trejo, the Municipal Administration 2024-2027, through the Municipal Institute for Women’s Care (IMAM), commemorated the International Day of Rural Women, with a group of 16 women exhibitors, who offered their unique handmade pieces, with the local talent that characterizes San Miguel crafts.

In the first edition of the Self-Sustaining Fair of Women Producers and Artisans, various gastronomic products were put up for sale, highlighting traditional dishes such as mole and “recipes of Otomi origin”, fresh food from family gardens, as well as traditional and seasonal crafts such as “witches” made of reed sticks, traditional wood carvings and brass stars, in addition to decorative objects made of wool, ceramics, clay and other crafts made by the sensitivity of the San Miguel residents.

Unlike previous editions in the Civic Plaza, the new strategy of the IMAM is to take advantage of the influx of people who come to the central arch of the municipal market, known as “La Placita”, where this craft fair will be periodically set up and a substantial increase in the sale of its products is projected.

Like this type of events for the economic empowerment of women, the IMAM will continue to encourage families in the communities to strengthen their economy; In this sense, in November there will be more craft fairs for entrepreneurial women, not only from the rural area but from all over San Miguel, so the IMAM invites all San Miguel residents interested in participating and improving their family economy to participate.

In addition to these craft fairs, the IMAM offers advisory and training services for productive projects, every Tuesday at its facilities on Conspiración Boulevard #128 known as “La Rotonda”; in addition to providing legal advice and psychological support for them.
