Morelos: Three people arrested for the kidnapping and murder of two UAEM teachers

Morelos: Detienen a tres personas por el secuestro y asesinato de dos profesores de la UAEM

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Morelos arrested three people for their alleged participation in the kidnapping and murder of Laura and Enrique, retired professors of the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos (UAEM).

On Tuesday, the lifeless bodies of the victims were found in the town of Topilejo, in the Tlalpan municipality, Mexico City.

Sources from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for High Impact Crimes, detailed that an operation was carried out a few days ago in Cuernavaca, where a woman and two men were arrested in a shopping center located on Domingo Diez Avenue.

According to reports from personnel from the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Morelos (FGE), the detainees are part of a gang of kidnappers that operates in Huitzilac, a municipality bordering Mexico City.

Therefore, searches were carried out in Huitzilac where evidence was already obtained and more people involved are being tracked.

Authorities confirmed that the victims’ families paid the ransom in the town of Coajomulco, without specifying the amount so far.

The case is being handled discreetly at the request of the relatives, who have asked for respect to avoid their re-victimization.

The investigation is still open and authorities are analyzing more evidence, including the rental vehicle used by the alleged perpetrators.
