Más de 40 actividades artísticas y culturales en Todos Santos

As part of the Day of the Dead celebration in Oaxaca, the Ministry of Culture and Arts has scheduled 41 artistic and cultural activities for the enjoyment of Oaxacans, as well as national and foreign visitors.

The head of the department said that in the indigenous communities of Oaxaca, people are born and die with music and rituals, but death has a marked ritual in all of them, some austere and others exuberant, “rituals that will be shown with great respect in public spaces, putting indigenous peoples with their customs and traditions at the center.”

He pointed out that through these activities that will take place from October 26 to November 3, people will be able to appreciate how funeral rituals are celebrated through concerts of sacred and funeral music representative of indigenous communities.

Also for the second consecutive year there will be exhibitions of altars and bread of the dead, sand mats, as well as plastic arts and literary exhibits that revolve around death.

The activities will take place in five venues, such as the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, the Museum of Oaxacan Painters, the Museum of Contemporary Art and Oaxacan Cultures.

The Zócalo of Oaxaca City and the Alameda de León will also be the venues for various presentations that will show the worldview of the people of Oaxaca to enjoy this celebration.
