This year, Mexico has made history within the list of The World’s 50 Best Bars, as Handshake Speakeasy, located in Mexico City, has been chosen as the Best Bar in the World and Best Bar in North America. This confirms the status of global recognition that our country has acquired in this field.

It was in April 2024 when it was named Best Bar in North America by North America’s 50 Best Bars. This October 22, six months later, Handshake Speakeasy has made history again by being recognized as the Best Bar in the World by The World’s 50 Best Bars list, achieving something that no other gastronomic and hospitality establishment in our country had achieved until today: being crowned as the most outstanding place on the planet.
To the cry of “Viva Mexico”, those in charge of going up on stage at the Madrid Arena Pavilion to receive the recognition as Best Bar in the World were Eric van Beek, Marcos di Battista and Rodrigo Urraca, founders of Handshake Speakeasy. Excited, Urraca summed up having achieved this enormous achievement with a simple phrase in English: “Dreams come true.”

Among its most recent menu, you must try the Matcha Dame Blanche cocktail with Bombay Sapphire gin, matcha tea, Greek yogurt and white chocolate, inspired by a Dutch dessert. According to Eric, his inspiration for creating new cocktails comes from food, coffee or cakes.
