An altercation between a traffic police officer and the workers of a mechanic’s shop in the 12 de Octubre neighborhood in Puerto Vallarta sparked a series of blows and a confrontation that was captured on video.

The officer went to the scene arguing that there was a neighborhood report because the owners of the shop were occupying the street for their activities.

However, the owners of the business demanded that an official document be presented, alleging that the lack of such document was what started the conflict.

In the five-minute video, the officer is seen confronting one of the owners, whom he pushes while yelling “get over there.” The man, dressed in denim shorts and a gray T-shirt, responds by demanding that his ticket be lifted. During the argument, he punches the officer, who responds with a kick that knocks him down onto the sidewalk.

The person filming the scene, evidently upset, described the situation saying: “How much arrogance, officer, how much arrogance.” In response, the officer accuses him of having “thrown the truck on top of him,” while pointing at him with his thumb.

In the middle of the dispute, another man wearing a cap joins the scene and throws an object towards the officer. Faced with this, the police officer reacts by drawing his firearm, pointing it at the men and challenging them with a “cheer up.” The person who was recording insists: “Put that away,” to which the officer firmly responds: “I’m not going to put it away.”

Later, more officers and patrol cars arrived at the scene to put order to this incident, which was broadcast live on Facebook to more than 10 thousand people, as explained in the video by the man who filmed it.

The video, which has quickly circulated on social media, has caused controversy among the inhabitants of Puerto Vallarta, who demand a review of the case by the authorities to clarify the actions of both parties.
