A shooting attack broke out in an invasion zone in Playa del Carmen, leaving two people dead. The violent incident occurred on Sunday evening at around 10:00 p.m. within the Las Torres invasion zone, specifically in the Bali subdivision area. According to eyewitness accounts and preliminary reports, a motorcycle carrying unknown individuals intercepted two men in the irregular zone, leading to a shooting that resulted in fatal injuries.
One of the victims died instantly at the scene due to severe gunshot wounds, while the other victim was transported to the local hospital in critical condition by paramedics. Unfortunately, despite emergency medical treatment, the second victim succumbed to their injuries shortly after entering the hospital.
The police and medical units responded promptly to a 911 report of the shooting incident. The area was immediately cordoned off by municipal police officers, who secured the scene while allowing investigators from the State Attorney General’s Office and Ministerial Investigation Police to begin their investigation.
To facilitate further inquiry, both bodies were transported to the Forensic Medical Service for a legal autopsy. This tragic event highlights the ongoing issues of violence in the invasion zones within Playa del Carmen, emphasizing the need for increased security measures and cooperation among law enforcement agencies.
