In the last five days, 389 murders were recorded throughout Mexico, to which should be added the death of 38 alleged members of organized criminal groups who were killed in clashes with the Army in the states of Sinaloa and Guerrero.
The balance published by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) does not include the 19 hitmen of the Sinaloa Cartel and the 19 of the Gente Nueva of Guerrero killed in combat with the military.
On average, between 450 and 500 victims of intentional homicide are recorded in the country each week, an average of 71 per day, according to the report of the ministerial body.
This week, the one before the Day of the Dead holiday, began on Monday with 67 murders, most of them in Guanajuato (12) and Baja California (7). On Tuesday there were 72 victims; on Wednesday, 67; On Thursday, 70 and on Friday, 75.
The report also includes the figures for femicides in September, when 242 women were murdered, bringing the six-year term of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to a close with a total of 16,096 women murdered, a historic record.
