Accompanying the municipal president of Mazatlán, Estrella Palacios Domínguez, in the message she addressed to the people of Mazatlán on the occasion of the beginning of her administration at the head of the City Council, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya assured that he will work together with the first female mayor to have a safer Mazatlán and that this tourist destination continues to be attractive for investments.
The state leader specified that the citizens are being taken care of and violence will not be allowed to reach this city, so that citizens and tourists can continue enjoying its attractions, and that commerce, nor the hotel and restaurant sector slow down its economic dynamism.
“We are taking care of the citizens, do not doubt it, and we are going to end this problem, of course we will, we are moving forward, and we will not allow this violence to reach Mazatlán; work, open the restaurants, take the children to school, go to the beach,” said the governor.
On behalf of his government, he said that he is working in a very coordinated manner with the Mexican Army and the National Guard, to provide the necessary security conditions, so that businessmen and workers can develop their activities, and so that Mazatlán continues to be the tourist jewel of Sinaloa; for this reason he thanked the collaboration of General Guillermo Briseño Lobera, commander of the Third Military Region; and Admiral Javier Abarca García, commander of the Eighth Naval Region, both present at the event as special guests, along with Senators Imelda Castro Castro and Enrique Inzunza Cázarez.
He also announced that he had just proposed to the Canadian Foreign Ministry to remove the warning issued to his fellow citizens not to visit Culiacán and Mazatlán, saying that they have nothing to worry about, and he pointed out that three flights arrived from Calgary, Canada, with a good number of tourists that day, since the flights were over 90 percent full.
Regarding the support he announced for the mayor of Mazatlán, Governor Rocha promised from now on that his government would contribute 80 million pesos to replace the pumping station of the collector on Camarón Sábalo Avenue, which is located right in front of the offices of Conapesca, since the one currently available is insufficient to drain the water and that is why this avenue, which is one of the most important because it is the main artery of the golden zone, continues to flood.
He also announced that, at no cost to the City Council, the State Government will pave two streets adjacent to Insurgentes Avenue, which is currently being modernized by his government, and in this regard, he recalled that a few days ago he made a supervisory visit to see the progress of the work and asked for a little more patience from the merchants, since the road will soon be opened.
Regarding another of the large works that his government is building in Mazatlán, he referred to the construction of the overpass over Colosio Avenue and the intersection with Juan Pablo Segundo Avenue, also known as Munich, which will be ready by April, since it is a large-scale road infrastructure.
Governor Rocha also pointed out that the efforts to install a dairy industry in Mazatlán continue, so that this dairy basin will also grow as agriculture will, with the recent incorporation of 47 thousand hectares to irrigation, thanks to the construction of the Irrigation Districts of the Picachos and Santa María dams.
In turn, Mayor Palacios Domínguez thanked Governor Rubén Rocha Moya for his support in order to begin her municipal mandate in the best possible way, and to respond to all the commitments he made during his campaign.
“A development and well-being that we are going to build as a team with the State Government and with the Government of Mexico, for this we have a great ally in Mazatlán, who is here present, our governor, Dr. Rubén Rocha Moya, whom I admire and respect for his dedication and tireless work in favor of the people of Sinaloa, a man who knows very closely the needs of our people, our port and all our communities; I am sure, and what I say here in front of you, Governor, that Mazatlán has its governor and that Dr. Rubén Rocha Moya has Mazatlán,” she assured.
