Streaming giant Netflix has taken a bold step by announcing a three-season deal with the National Football League (NFL). The collaboration marks a significant milestone as it is the first time the platform has partnered with a major sports league, a move that could transform its content offering and attract new subscribers.
The company has seen the growing interest in streaming sports and the NFL, with its massive fan base, is seen as an unbeatable option to capture users’ attention. Traditionally known for its on-demand content, Netflix is now entering the exciting world of live events, a move that opens up new opportunities to expand its audience, especially on key dates such as holidays or vacation periods.
When, at what time and which games will Netflix broadcast
Specifically, Netflix has revealed that its programming for December 25 will include two prominent NFL games. At 12:00 Central Mexico time, fans will be able to enjoy the match between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs, current league champions, which will take place at Acrisure Stadium. This match promises to be a high-voltage spectacle, given the talent of both teams.
Shortly after, at 3:30 p.m., NRG Stadium will be the stage for the duel between the Houston Texans and the Baltimore Ravens. These games are not only unique in their date, but will also mark the close of the regular season for both franchises before the playoffs begin, which will start with the Wild Card Round on January 11, 2025.
Although details have not yet been confirmed about the availability of these games in the different Netflix subscription plans, whether in the basic package with ads or in the standard plan starting at 219 pesos per month, the platform assures that they will be accessible in Mexico. With this initiative, the red N giant not only enriches its festive content, but also positions itself in the competitive streaming sports market, where demand continues to rise.
This move reinforces the growing trend of live streaming of sporting events and signals a change in the way fans consume content. As these content platforms look to diversify their offering, the agreement with the NFL could be the first of many in a new chapter of sports entertainment.
