Campeche has become the first state to locally implement the constitutional reforms promoted by former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, covering the prosecution and the Judiciary. This progress was made during the tenth ordinary session of the first session period of the first year of the constitutional exercise, where the Local Congress approved reforms to the Political Constitution, the Organic Law of the Judiciary, and the Organic Law of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Campeche.
Although it was not specified which municipalities voted in favor, it was reported that none voted against the reforms. The Legislative Branch of Campeche announced that, through the Board of Directors, the Constitutional Review Branch approved the proposed changes for the Judicial Reform and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
In another development, Congress approved an exhortation to the City Council of Campeche to prioritize the repair and maintenance of streets and avenues in various sectors of the municipality, ensuring that the works are carried out with quality and safety standards.
Additionally, a proposal was presented to urge the Secretariat for Citizen Protection and Security (SPSC) and the Superior Audit Office of the State of Campeche (Asecam) to urgently submit a detailed report on the use of resources, including a breakdown of the actions and costs involved. Investigations into the management of resources in the department were also requested.
