A video is circulating on social media showing the moments of panic experienced by passengers on a public transport truck that lost its brakes in the Residencial del Prado neighborhood, in the municipality of Tonalá, Jalisco.
The video was captured by a passenger, who managed to document how the vehicle he was traveling in was going at full speed down a dirt road, without the driver being able to do anything to stop it.
The impact against the vehicles and a house
The video shows how, after a few seconds of anguish, the truck crashes into a parked car. According to the local Civil Protection authorities, the public transport unit collided with a total of four parked vehicles and a house.
In addition, another video captured by a security camera in a building is circulating, which shows how the truck hits a sedan-type car. This second video contributed to the incident going viral and increased the community’s concern.
Response from the authorities
Civil Protection and Firefighters of Tonalá reported that they quickly arrived at the scene of the accident, on the road to Colimilla, to provide pre-hospital care to the people involved. In total, 13 people were treated, all with minor injuries and contractures. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

At the confluence of Camino a Colimilla and Independencia, in the Residencial del Prado neighborhood, a report of a road accident is attended to, where a personnel transport truck suffers a mechanical failure when it loses its brakes and collides with four private vehicles and a home, with damage reported.”

Damage and cleanup at the scene
After the accident, emergency teams carried out cleanup work due to the spillage of liquids and solids from the vehicles involved. In addition, the population was advised to avoid the area and to be careful when driving through the affected area while the cleanup work was being carried out.
The preliminary report indicated that, apart from the material damage, the injuries were minor, and there were no fatalities. The authorities continued working at the site to ensure that there were no further risks.
