MEXICO CITY — International fashion retailer Primark is set to enter the Mexican market through a new franchise agreement with the country’s leading department store operator, El Puerto de Liverpool.

In a statement submitted to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), Liverpool announced the strategic alliance, highlighting that the partnership will strengthen its commercial portfolio while expanding its relationships with global brands. Under the franchise model, the Mexican retail giant will work alongside the Irish-founded brand to plan store locations, launch schedules, and manage overall expansion across the country.

Known for its affordable pricing and everyday essentials, Primark aims to deliver a fresh shopping experience to Mexican consumers. Liverpool noted that the arrival of the brand is designed to introduce a dynamic approach to fashion, allowing shoppers to discover and combine accessible styles.

Founded in Ireland in 1969, Primark currently operates over 500 stores across 19 global markets. Its entry into Mexico marks a significant step in its international expansion strategy, introducing its high-volume, low-cost retail concept to Latin America’s second-largest economy.

For Liverpool, the partnership adds a major fast-fashion player to its extensive domestic footprint. The Mexican company currently operates 321 department stores under the Liverpool and Suburbia banners, alongside 172 specialty boutiques and 30 shopping centers nationwide.

The companies confirmed that further operational details regarding store locations and initial opening dates will be announced as planning progresses.
