Cold Front No. 9 Brings Snowfall Warnings to Durango and Chihuahua

Minimum temperatures between -5 and -10°C are forecast for the early hours of Wednesday and Thursday in the mountainous areas of Baja California, Chihuahua, and Durango due to the arrival of cold front number 9 of the season.

The National Meteorological Service has warned that this new frontal system will enter the northwest border of the country starting today, generating strong gusts of wind in the region. Additionally, the cold air mass driving it will cause high waves along the western coast of the Baja California Peninsula.

Meanwhile, cold front No. 8 will remain stationary over the northeast of the country, causing strong winds, possible dust storms, and isolated rains in that region. It is expected to stop affecting Mexico by the end of today.

An anticyclone system will persist in the middle levels of the atmosphere over northern Mexico, resulting in little potential for rainfall in the northwest, north, west, center, and east of the country. However, a hot to very hot environment is expected over parts of the South Pacific and Central Mexico.
