The Secretary of Organization of Morena, Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, on a working tour in Villahermosa, Tabasco, called for the unity of the militants in the state after recognizing that his party runs an “immense risk” of strengthening and creating “our own opposition.”
“We run an immense risk and that risk is that, although we do not see the opposition strong, being the hegemonic party in Tabasco, in the face of our errors and our division, we can strengthen and create our own opposition,” he said.
The call for unity from the son of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, was recorded one day after the governor of Tabasco, Javier May Rodríguez, assured that past state administrations will have to be held accountable for whether there was a pact with crime.
May Rodríguez accused Hernán Bermúdez Requena, who was Secretary of Public Security for former Governor Adán Augusto López Hernández, of having led the criminal group “La Barredora”, an operational arm of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG).
In this sense, Andrés Manuel López Beltrán was emphatic in sending greetings to the Tabasco governor.
“Let us all make an effort to keep the party united in Tabasco, to leave aside personal differences and put above all the interest of the people of Tabasco and the interest of the people of Mexico, because if we remain united we will be able to support our governor Javier May, to whom he sent a big greeting from here,” he harangued Morena supporters gathered at an informational assembly.
The Morena politician himself acknowledged that he rarely takes the floor at Morena assemblies, but on this occasion he said that he did so because it was his father’s land.
Taking the microphone, he took the opportunity to remember the Obradorista social muscle of the entity.
“But how can I not speak in Tabasco, if this is the town that first nominated Andrés Manuel López Obrador as governor of Tabasco in 1988; how can I forget that this was the town that marched with Andrés Manuel López Obrador in the Exodus for Democracy,” said López Beltrán.
To close his speech, and not lose the common exercise in these informative assemblies, he remembered his father, the former president.
“Yesterday was my father’s birthday, Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s. Yesterday I was with him and I was very happy to see him full, to see him happy, to see him healthy, but, above all, to see him full of strength and hope for the future,” he celebrated.

According to documents from the military intelligence center between 2019 and 2021, during the government of Adán Augusto López, Hernán Bermúdez Requena, head of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSPC); José del Carmen Castillo Ramírez, commissioner of the State Police, and Leonardo Arturo Leyva Ávalo, director of the State Police, carried out illicit activities with groups of “huachicoleros”.
