Chihuahua highway rehabilitation project underway

The Secretariat of Communications and Transportation in Chihuahua is waiting for a budget resolution that will allow the start of maintenance works on the state’s roads, especially to address the problem of potholes.

This was stated by the mayor, Jesús Valenciano García, who indicated that one of the immediate priorities is to cover the potholes that affect the road and safety of drivers. “These repairs are urgent, since the sections in poor condition have represented a growing problem for daily traffic in the region.”

The mayor stressed that the governor of the State is managing additional funds for a comprehensive rehabilitation of the road that connects Delicias with Chihuahua, as well as other key sections that go to the municipality of Jiménez.

According to Valenciano García, the commitment of the governor to this cause is firm, since the current conditions of the roads require a significant intervention that goes beyond temporary patches; the deterioration of these routes affects both local residents and inter-municipal trade and transportation.

The Delicias-Chihuahua stretch, in particular, is of high importance for the flow of people and economy in the region, as it connects several important municipalities. In recent months, users of this road have reported frequent damage to their vehicles, due to the poor condition of the pavement.

Surface repairs have been insufficient, and both citizens and authorities are waiting for a solution that will permanently and safely improve the infrastructure.

Although they do not yet have an official budget for these works, Valenciano expressed his confidence that the state government will manage to secure the necessary resources and once the funds are approved, they will give priority to basic maintenance works, such as patching, while establishing a long-term plan for the complete rehabilitation of the road.
