Families of victims in Los Cantaritos protest in march

With the presence of relatives of one of the victims of the attack that occurred last weekend, a contingent of approximately 50 people from civil society began the peaceful and supportive march for peace, from the Alameda Hidalgo to the outside of the Los Cantaritos bar, located on Circunvalación Street in the Historic Center of the city of Querétaro.

Escarlette Gómez, sister of Jorge Gómez who lost his life at the scene, stated that the authorities have not given them the necessary support and that they did not even allow them to cremate the bodies, but rather bury them in a cemetery.

“My brother’s wish was that at some point his body would be cremated and his ashes taken to a church, to remain there, but the authorities did not allow us to do so,” he said as he burst into tears due to the helplessness of what happened last weekend.

Walter López, representative of the civil society group, indicated that it is a march of mourning to express their dissatisfaction with the events that occurred the previous Saturday and to show their support for the victims’ families.

“Seven days after the massacre we went out in silence to raise awareness in the organizations, the academy and society in general, about the events that were recorded,” said Walter López who said that it is important that society understands the situation of what has happened in the city.
